I love people. People are amazing. I also love clothing!
The purpose of Ruthie Ks Inc is to help people feel confident by bringing out their style by fitting their clothes to them.
The better we look, the more confident we feel!
I learned to sew at the age of 7 on my great-grandmothers sewing machine. Since then, making clothing has been my passion for the last 50 years. I started young!
I learned basic technique in 4-H, competing in the local fair and the Wool Growers competition, and made formal outfits for Rainbow Girls during middle school through high school.
Then I went to Seattle Pacific University and studied fashion design. What amazing staff! I learned advanced sewing techniques including draping, flat pattern making, pattern adjustment and design.
From there I’ve had my own business in various forms. Teaching sewing to all ages and doing custom designs, as well as alterations.
I have worked for a few specialty tailoring shops; David’s Bridal and Destination XL (a big and tall men's store), as their tailor. This means I am experienced in making many different garments fit on many different people!
I believe that EVERYONE can look and feel amazing in their clothing, and I started this business to prove it!

Naomi Lee
Alterations Department
Naomi started as a sewing student with Ruthie, and has worked her way up through our apprenticeship to be an amazing member of the team! Her natural talent and quick mind has made her a wonderful lead in our alterations department.
Anna Fryer
Administrative Assistant
One of the first people to join the Ruthie Ks team, Anna has been a constant source of encouragement and clarity. Anna started as a personal assistant to Ruthie, and has grown into the administrative center of the business, scheduling consultations and leading our social media and web communications.
Anna is also manager of our brand new sister store, RK Artisans! RK Artisans is your source for sustainable, one of a kind home goods, made by a network of exceptional Artisans here in the U.S.
Ruthie Ks Apprenticeship Program
Ruthie Ks Inc is always on the lookout for fresh new talent! Ruthie loves to teach, and we have been so blessed to meet and train up some amazing sewists over the years. Some have become part of our team, and some have gone on to build their own businesses.
Ruthie's Apprenticeship is open to teens and adults of any experience level, who are interested in learning alterations, classic clothes making skills, and entrepreneurship.
